When you go into a salon you want the hairstylist to give you the right cut. Although many times people go into a salon and briefly describe the style and cut they want and then are unsatisfied when the hairstylist didn’t do it exactly how they wanted it. The hairstylist cannot read your mind so to make it easier for them take in a photo or two to show them what you mean and be a little more specific if you desire a specific cut. When taking in photos for a cut try to avoid photos of updos or overly curly hair (unless you yourself have naturally curly hair). It is not easy to see what the cut looks like if the hair in the photo is overly styled. Also try to differentiate between the cut you want verses the style, if you are going into a salon with straight hair and take in a picture of wavy hair, this is a style and it takes a curling iron not scissors.

Also when doing a drastic cut, or cutting off more than a trim, make sure you really know what you want. If you have long hair and are thinking of doing a bob, go to a wig store and try on a few wigs to see if you will be satisfied with that cut. Or try fashioning your hair into a bob to at least get an idea if the length is right for you. Hair does take time to grow back so take a little time to think about it after the urge to drastically change it strikes. If you do change it and are unsatisfied, don’t worry try a few different styling tips and in time it will be grown, then you can decide what you are comfortable with.

Just remember that the hairstylist wants you to be completely satisfied so if there is something you don’t like or would like to see done, speak up!
